The "Nix" Action for Email

When you Nix an email (press #), here's what happens:

  1. The email item is removed from your Intake/Canvas
  2. The email in Outlook is handled based on your Settings:
    • Keep in Archive: Email moves to your Archive folder
    • Delete from Outlook: Email moves to Deleted Items
Remember: Nixing is safe. You're not permanently destroying data—you're just removing it from active tracking. The email still exists in Outlook.

Conversation Threading

When enabled in Settings, related emails are grouped into conversation threads. This helps you see the full context of an email exchange in one place.

How Threading Works

  • Emails with the same subject/thread ID are grouped
  • The most recent message appears at the top
  • Expand the thread to see older messages
  • Reply actions keep the thread together

Tips for Email in Nix It

  1. Process, don't just read: Every email should exit your Intake—Done, Nix, or move to Canvas
  2. Use Nix freely: Newsletters, notifications, and FYI emails are great candidates for Nix
  3. Track only what needs tracking: Don't move emails to Canvas just to "save" them—that's what Archive is for
  4. Reply quickly: If a reply takes less than 2 minutes, do it immediately
  5. Search is powerful: Don't over-organize folders—search finds what you need
